On August 1st, Samsung began rolling out the July 2019 security update to Galaxy S10, S10e, and S10+ handsets in Kenya, with the update arriving a week after the official changelog was published.
The update, which has a build number of ASG8 and weighs around 400MB, is now available for download via a stable Wi-Fi network. The update is part of Samsung's usual OTA (over-the-air) update process, which often sees the company rolling out software updates to its devices in phases.
It's worth noting that the July 2019 security update is already available on other devices, including those from OnePlus and Google, which have already updated their devices to the latest August 2019 security patches. However, Samsung's update process is often criticized for being slow, with the company often taking its time to roll out software updates to its devices.
As for the changelog, it's more of the same with what Samsung published with the June security patch. However, given the size of the download, users will have to dig in to find what Samsung has hidden in the new software.
With last month's security patch rolling out in August, it remains to be seen when Samsung will release this month's security update for Galaxy S10 users in the country. Even more interesting is the release of Android Q, an OS that both Google and OnePlus should be able to begin stable rollouts in the next few days or weeks.
Interestingly, there are reports that Samsung has already started testing Android Q beta on the Galaxy S10, so there should be some hope of an early release, sort of.
