On Wednesday, Brian Bera, the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology student who was shot and injured in June while attempting to climb over the State House fence, appeared before a Nairobi court.
During the hearing, Bera, 25, told the court that he had attempted to gain entry into State House to save the many jobless youth in Kenya.
He also urged the court to bar his father from interfering with his life, stating that he is an adult.
However, the court directed that Bera still be held at a mental facility under his father's care, prompting him to plead for forgiveness and release.
Magistrate Francis Andayi stated that the accused still requires medical attention and is therefore not fit to take a plea.
As a result, Bera will now be under medication for a period of two months before appearing in court on October 9, 2019.
Before his June attempt, Bera had posted on his Facebook page about his plans, stating, “I am only going to slay President Uhuru Kenyatta and his thief partners because they stole the land God gave to my ancestors…”
Two weeks after the incident, Bera reemerged and pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta for forgiveness.
