Renowned Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz has been at the forefront of the fight against HIV/AIDs in Tanzania, using his platform to raise awareness and encourage people to get tested.
As part of his efforts, Diamond has partnered with the Tanzania Commission for AIDs (TACAIDS) to provide HIV testing services at the upcoming Wasafi Festival concerts.
According to Diamond, getting tested for HIV is a bold move that enables individuals to plan their lives and know their status.
'Kupima Virusi Vya UKIMWI ni jambo jema kwako kwa kuwa linakuwezesha kujua hali yako na kuweza kupanga maisha yako ili kufikia malengo uliyojiwekea. Kijana wa kitanzania usikubali kuishi bila kujua hali ya afya yako. Pima | Jitambue | Ishi.'
However, not everyone is in support of Diamond's initiative. Singer Ray C has expressed her concerns, suggesting that people may faint before the show starts if they are subjected to HIV testing.
'Yani we unataka watu wazimie kabla ya show!? [You want people to faint before the show?],’ she wrote.
Despite the backlash, Diamond remains committed to his cause, and his efforts have sparked a conversation about the importance of HIV testing and awareness in Tanzania.
