Nigerian singer Tekno Miles, known for his hit songs, has revealed the financial struggles he faced after undergoing vocal cord surgery.
According to Tekno, he had to make the difficult decision of turning down shows to protect his voice, which was damaged during the surgery.
He recalled a particularly tough decision he made three weeks after his throat surgery, when he had a show in Cameroon.
‘I chose going to Cameroon because, at that time there was no money. I already blew through everything so I needed that Cameroon show because that show was paying me $110,000 for that weekend,' Tekno said.
He added that he was scared of performing with an already irritated voice, fearing that he would end up going back to where he started.
For four months, Tekno could not perform, and he spent a significant amount of money on medical bills, including $8,600 to a doctor in New York without even undergoing any treatment.
He underwent two major surgeries, including one where a magnetic metal was inserted in his body to prevent food from entering his throat.
However, Tekno has since regained his health and is set to release a new song, 'Agege,' which features Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile.
