Kenyan midfielder Alwyn Tera, also known as Chambi, made history on August 6, 2019, when he played 70 minutes for Saburtalo in their 2-1 win over Ararat-Armenia in the first leg of the third round qualifying of the UEFA Europa League.
Alwyn Tera, a former student of Laiser Hill School, joined Saburtalo in 2015. His side made its debut in Europe after winning the domestic league last season.
Kenya's new football star, Alwyn Tera, was handed a rare start by Saburtalo boss Giorgi Chiabrishvili. Tera did not take part in Saburtalo's disappointing loss to Dynamo Zagreb in the second round of UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
However, he was introduced against Ararat-Armenia and played 70 minutes before being substituted in the second half. The tactical substitution worked in favor of Saburtalo, as Levan Kenia doubled their lead after Sandro Altunashvili's equalizer.
With this win, Saburtalo will now be seeking to emerge aggregate winners in the two-legged affair for a chance to make it into the play-offs. Victory in the play-offs will guarantee them an automatic place in the Europa League group stages.
