On August 7, 2019, a plane operated by Tropical Airline crashed minutes after take-off in Mafia, eastern Tanzania, leaving six people injured.

The victims were rushed to Mafia District Hospital for treatment, while three others on board escaped unhurt and continued with their journey.

According to Mr. Hamza Johari, the director general of the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), the plane was carrying nine people when it crashed as it attempted to take off from Mafia Airport.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, with a team of experts deployed to examine the cause of the crash.

Mr. Johari stated, 'We have already deployed a team of experts who will examine what happened. When that is done, we will be able to issue a complete statement,' adding that the cause of the crash was still unknown.

This incident marks the second plane crash in Tanzania's airspace in a week, following a fatal crash in Tabora, northwestern Tanzania, on Saturday.
