Published on August 7, 2019, Kenyan songbird Vivian has spoken out about the challenges she faced as a female artist in a male-dominated industry.
Despite the struggles, Vivian has continued to push forward, even working as a hawker to make ends meet before taking up karaoke gigs that paid her Sh4,000 per month.
"Many female acts give up before time! Please don't throw in that towel yet... Everyone who told you you're not good enough will watch you living your best life. I was once a hawker," Vivian wrote on social media.
She also revealed that she has been physically and sexually taken advantage of by influential men in the industry, but has come out stronger.
While thanking her fiancé Sam West for being her 'rock,' Vivian encouraged other female artists to stay steadfast and thanked God for her special man.
