Millionaire Matchmakers' Strict Vetting Process

When it comes to finding love, money can't buy everything. Millionaire matchmakers have a rigorous vetting process to ensure their clients are genuine and ready for commitment.

Business Insider spoke with six elite matchmakers who work with clients from royals and celebrities to entrepreneurs and CEOs, with net worths ranging from the low millions to billions.

These matchmakers conduct in-person screenings, interviews, background checks, and social media checks to assess potential clients. Some even visit their homes to get a better understanding of their lifestyle and values.

So, what makes or breaks their decision to take on a millionaire as a client? Here are some key red flags:

Red Flag 1: Negative History and Dishonesty

Patti Stanger, founder of Millionaire's Club, has a strict screening process that looks into each potential client's history. If they have a restraining order, lawsuit, or institutionalization, they're out.

Stanger also keeps an eye out for dishonesty. 'If they lie, we revoke the membership,' she said.

Red Flag 2: Unlikability and a Bad Attitude

Stanger turns down 80% of aspiring clients, citing anger, bitterness, and unrealistic expectations as major turn-offs.

April Davis of Luma Search agrees, saying narcissism is a huge red flag. 'When someone says there's something wrong with everyone they've dated and everyone they're meeting, they find ways to 'disqualify' people and say they are all the ones with the problem(s),' she said.

Red Flag 3: Resistance to the Vetting Process

Amy Andersen of Linx Dating has a multi-step method that involves specific questions and in-person screenings. However, resistance to the vetting process can be a huge red flag.

Andersen said that potential clients must complete a form detailing their ideal match. 'Someone who cannot complete that in the preliminary stage certainly doesn't have time to be a client or is not making it a priority, which it needs to be,' she said.

It's also a red flag when someone balks at the idea of coming in for a meet-and-greet, she added.

Ultimately, millionaire matchmakers want clients who are likable, genuine, and ready for commitment. As Janis Spindel of Janis Spindel Serious Matchmaking Inc. said, 'We have to like them. If we're going to match someone, they have to be a good guy.'
