On July 13th, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru married Nairobi lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo in a lavish Kikuyu traditional ceremony held in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County.
Addressing journalists in Nairobi on Tuesday, August 6th, 2019, after the Supreme Court dismissed a petition challenging her election, Governor Waiguru said she would like to be referred to as Mumbi, Anne Mumbi, or Anne Mumbi Kamotho.
"You can call me Mumbi, Anne Mumbi, Anne Mumbi Kamotho, minji minji is also fine," she divulged.
Waiguru, who was previously married to Tony Waiguru and retained the surname even after they got divorced, said she would soon issue an official statement addressing the confusion surrounding her surname.
