On Tuesday evening, a tragic road accident occurred on the Kenol-Murang'a Road, near Ithe Ruui area, resulting in the deaths of four people and serious injuries to two others.

The victims were heading to Nairobi from a funeral in Kiharu Constituency when the driver lost control of the vehicle, a Toyota Wish, and veered off the road, ramming into trees in the nearby ditch.

According to Murang'a County Police Commander Josphat Kinyua, the incident occurred at 5:30 pm, and four of the victims died on the spot.

The two survivors were taken to Maragwa Hospital with serious injuries.

The cause of the driver's loss of control is still unclear, but local residents have identified the area as a notorious 'black spot' prone to fatal car crashes.

Recent incidents in the same area include a road accident two months ago that claimed the life of a Nginda location assistant chief and a separate incident involving County Minister for Water Paul Macharia, who was involved in a road accident that killed his driver.
