Published on August 6, 2019, a report highlighted the growing trend of pre-wedding pictures in Greece, particularly among Asian couples.

For many Chinese brides and grooms, having pre-wedding pictures shot in picturesque locations like Santorini is a status symbol and a way to showcase their social mobility.

According to the report, Greek photographers have developed websites with galleries of stunning brides-to-be, and the island's officials have pursued Chinese investment during the country's economic crisis.

However, the influx of tourists has put a strain on the island's infrastructure, with locals complaining about the crowds and the impact on their daily lives.

Despite the challenges, the pre-wedding picture industry continues to thrive, with couples willing to pay tens of thousands of euros for the perfect shot.

As one photographer noted, 'It's as important, if not more important, than the ring.'

For couples unable to afford the real thing, there are photo studios in Shanghai with Santorini sets, offering a more affordable alternative.
