On August 4, 2019, Barcelona lifted the Joan Gamper Trophy after defeating Arsenal 2-1 in the annual curtain raiser for the La Liga side.
However, the victory was marred by an awkward moment when Lionel Messi appeared to snub Antoine Griezmann following the Frenchman's substitution.
As Griezmann returned to the dugout, Messi failed to acknowledge him with a handshake, unlike the rest of his teammates.
But, in a surprising twist, Barcelona captain, who had given Griezmann a small tap on his leg, seemed to be Messi's way of acknowledging the 28-year-old.
The awkward moment occurred during Barcelona's 2-1 win over Arsenal, with Luis Suarez scoring the winner in the late stages of the match.
Aubameyang had given Arsenal the lead with a stunning goal from 18 yards, but Maitland-Niles' own goal and Suarez's winner secured the victory for Barcelona.
