On a recent official visit to Jamaica, President Uhuru Kenyatta made a statement that left many Kenyans scratching their heads. He claimed to have a direct connection to the island nation, citing his wife's brother's mother as the link. However, it appears the President's words were jumbled, and the truth lies elsewhere.

According to sources, the connection between the Kenyatta family and Jamaica lies with President Kenyatta's brother Muhoho's wife's mother, Mama Norma Florienta Kanja. Born in Jamaica, Mama Norma was the daughter of the late Rupert and Loretta Forbes, and the sister of Valerie Afflick, Doreen Nesbitt, and Carlton Forbes.

President Kenyatta paid tribute to Mama Norma after her passing in 2018, describing her as 'a wonderful human being.' He noted that she lived her life well and left an enduring legacy.

It seems the President's initial statement was factual, albeit a bit muddled. The truth behind the family connection to Jamaica has been revealed, putting an end to the confusion sparked by the President's words.
