On August 6, 2019, a woman's journey to Nairobi West Hospital took an unexpected turn when she gave birth to a baby boy in an Uber taxi.

According to her colleague, the woman had been experiencing stomach pains at work and quickly hailed a taxi to head to the hospital.

However, her labour intensified while en route, prompting the taxi driver, Nelson Munene, to stop outside Nation Centre on Kimathi Street.

Women who arrived at the scene quickly came to her aid, using their shawls to shield off the windows as the woman gave birth inside the car.

Medics from Meridian Hospital, located in Nation Centre, rushed out to assist the mother and child.
