On August 6, 2019, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua faced criticism from politician Johnstone Muthama and Machakos Senator Boniface Kabaka over corruption claims.

However, Governor Mutua has defended himself, revealing how he made millions from producing the TV series 'Cobra Squad'.

Speaking at a gathering of businessmen at Kenyatta stadium, Dr Mutua said, 'If I am found guilty, please arrest me and let them be careful what they wish for because they also have questions to answer.'

Dr Mutua explained that he started his own company at the age of 19, formed a company, and left the country. Upon returning, he started 'Cobra Squad', earning Sh25 million from the first series and Sh11 million from the next film.

He invested the money in buying apartments in Nairobi and owns an aviation company, with investments also made outside the country.

Dr Mutua also revealed plans to build a five-star hotel in Machakos town, financed by a loan.
