Wayne Rooney, England's record goal-scorer, is set to return to his homeland after agreeing a deal to become player-coach of Derby County in the English Championship.
Rooney, who previously played for Manchester United, will join Derby from January 2020, with the club announcing the move on Tuesday.
"Following the conclusion of the 2019 MLS season, star forward Wayne Rooney will be departing the club to continue his career in England in order to be closer to family," DC United said in a statement.
Derby County's new player-coach will bring a wealth of experience to the club, having played for both Manchester United and England.
