Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong' has made headlines in recent months for his vocal support of Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid. However, in a stunning turn of events, Ojaamong' has publicly declared his allegiance to Opposition leader Raila Odinga, citing the fate of his colleague Governor Ferdinand Waititu.
Just six months ago, Ojaamong' was on his way out of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to join Ruto's camp. He even went as far as saying that the Teso community would form an 'army' to mobilize grassroots support for Ruto's bid.
However, in a Facebook post, Ojaamong' expressed his admiration for Raila Odinga, calling him 'the most intriguing and misunderstood public figure in Kenyan history.' He went on to say that Raila Odinga is one of the chosen few who have achieved greatness, achieved greatness, and had greatness thrust upon them.
Ojaamong' also praised Raila Odinga's humility, saying that he confuses his foes and unintentionally entices his friends. He ended his post by saying 'Long live my political mentor, father of the Nation and Kenya's enigma.'
It remains to be seen what prompted Ojaamong's sudden shift in allegiance, but it's clear that he's now firmly in Raila Odinga's camp.
