On August 6, 2019, the Supreme Court of Kenya delivered a ruling that dismissed a petition by Martha Karua, leader of NARC Kenya, challenging the election of Anne Waiguru as Kirinyaga governor.

The petition had been filed after Karua lost at the High Court and Court of Appeal, where the case had been dismissed.

Justice Isaac Lenaola, speaking on behalf of the five-judge panel, stated that the Supreme Court lacked jurisdiction in handling the matter and upheld the rulings of the two lower courts.
