Kenya: Mombasa Gang Attack Leaves Several Injured

On August 5, 2019, a group of approximately 30 youth, suspected to be the Wakali Kwanza gang, launched a violent attack on residents in Bamburi, Mombasa County.

The attackers, who were armed with knives and wore bright reflectors, targeted anyone in their sight, leaving several people injured.

"They were shouting 'Takbir!' before they started slashing anyone in their sight," a resident recalled.

According to eyewitnesses and police, the attack occurred around Naivas Centre and Lake View area of Nyali constituency.
