On August 5, Equity Bank announced the appointment of Gerald Warui as its new Managing Director, a position that is subject to approval by the Central Bank of Kenya.
Warui's appointment comes after the bank's board accepted the resignation of Polycarp Igathe, who will be rejoining his previous employer, Vivo, as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Africa.
Warui is set to take up the MD position, marking the lender's fourth Managing Director in its 35-year history.
According to a tweet by Equity Bank, Warui's appointment is a significant milestone for the bank, and we look forward to his leadership.
