On August 6, 2019, the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) announced that it was lifting the partial suspension of the Doping Control Laboratory at the Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden.

As reported by AFP, the laboratory had been barred from conducting tests using the gas chromatography/combustion/isotope ratio mass spectrometry method due to non-compliance with accepted standards in November 2018.

During the suspension period, which was backdated to August 1, 2018, samples requiring the aforementioned type of testing had to be securely transported to another Wada-accredited facility.

However, Wada stated that the issues had been resolved, and the laboratory was no longer required to transport samples to another facility for analysis.

"Therefore, effective 1 August 2019, the Stockholm Laboratory, which had continued to carry out all of its other regular anti-doping activities, is no longer required to securely transport samples that require GC/C/IRMS analysis to another Wada-accredited laboratory," Wada said in a statement.
