On August 6, 2019, the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) announced its nominees for the 2019 awards event. The annual awards event, established by the International Committee AFRIMA in collaboration with the African Union, recognizes and celebrates musical works, talents, and creativity across the African continent.
Kenya has a strong presence at the AFRIMA Awards, with notable artists such as Khaligraph, Sauti Sol, and Akothee representing the country alongside big African names like Davido, Burna Boy, and Mi Casa.
This year, gospel artist Jane Otieno, singer Victori Kimani, musician Kagwe Muigai, and rapper Nyashinski have made it to the list of nominees.
Sauti Sol's Bien has been nominated for the song of the year category for the song 'Melanin' featuring Patronking.
