On August 6, 2019, Vodafone Institute announced the selection of five innovative startups into its F-LANE accelerator, a seven-week support program in Berlin.

The five selected startups are from India, the UK, Germany, Nigeria, and Ghana, and were chosen for their commitment to improving the world through technology.

Among the selected startups are Rubi Health from Nigeria and Developers in Vogue from Ghana, who will join the program in Berlin.

The F-LANE accelerator program aims to support startups by and for women, and provides mentorship, training, networking, and financial start-up assistance.

According to the Vodafone Institute, the majority of the start-ups in the past F-LANE rounds had received investments following the program, with some cases reaching up to 4.5 million euros.

“Prejudices against women in the tech sector are still persistent, and the figures about their disadvantage are alarming. Programmes like F-LANE are needed to put this issue on the agenda and show that there is a variety of outstanding business models and diverse inspiring start-up teams,” said Alice Deißner, Director of the Vodafone Institute for Society and Communication.

The five selected startups will participate in the F-LANE accelerator program, which will start on October 4, 2019, and will culminate in a Demo Day on November 21, 2019, in front of investors and decision-makers from business, media, and politics.

F-LANE Start-ups 2019 include:

Developers in Vogue (Ghana)

Rubi Health (Nigeria)

Together for Her (India)

Safe & the City (UK)

Boost Thyroid (GER)
