On August 6, 2019, the Gabon Football Federation made a significant announcement, appointing Frenchman Patrice Neveu as the new coach of the Gabon National team. Neveu has signed a four-year contract to lead the Panthers of Gabon.
Neveu takes over from Daniel Cousin, who was sacked following the team's failure to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
