On August 6, 2019, Anne Waiguru, the then Governor of Kirinyaga County, defied Martha Karua, a prominent Kenyan politician, after a court ruling.
Waiguru's defiance came after the High Court of Kenya dismissed a petition filed by Karua, challenging Waiguru's election as Governor.
