Equity Bank Kenya Appoints Gerald Warui as Managing Director

On August 6, 2019, Equity Bank Kenya announced the appointment of Gerald Warui as its fourth Managing Director in its 35-year history.

Warui, a long-serving Director, takes over from Polycarp Igathe, who resigned after an eight-month tenure to rejoin Vivo as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Africa.

Equity Group prioritizes developing strong management talent, and many of its team members now hold senior roles in leading companies across Africa.

Warui, a career banker with over 30 years of experience, has served Equity Bank for 21 years and holds various certifications, including an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

The Board congratulates Warui on his appointment, subject to approval by the Central Bank of Kenya, and thanks Igathe for his dedicated service, wishing him well in his new role.
