On August 6, 2019, police announced the arrest of a GSU officer in connection with the murder of his colleague at the Wilson Airport in Nairobi, Kenya.
Constable Samson Morongo was arrested after investigations established that he shot dead his colleague, Stephen Mkangi, at the Wilson watch tower on July 27, 2019.
According to police investigations, Morongo attempted to cover up the incident by framing the murder on unknown assailants.
Forensic analysis by the DCI revealed that the suspect's clothes tested positive for gunshot residue, placing him in close proximity to the shooting scene.
After killing his colleague, Morongo made a report that they had been attacked by unknown people, who killed his colleague and took their firearms.
