Published on August 6, 2019, Arsenal's new signing Dani Ceballos is facing a race against time to return to full fitness ahead of the Gunners' season-opener against Newcastle on Sunday, August 11.
Dani Ceballos, who joined the Gunners on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid, sustained an injury in Arsenal's 2-1 friendly defeat against Barcelona at the weekend.
According to Arsenal boss Unai Emery, Ceballos was very sore after being caught by Barca defender Clement Lenglet and cannot train for the next few days.
This is not the only injury concern for Arsenal, as record-signing Nicolas Pepe and French hitman Alexander Lacazette are also on the sidelines.
Lacazette missed the 2-1 friendly defeat at Camp Nou after picking a suspected ankle injury against Lyon in the Emirates cup, but Emery remains optimistic that he will be able to take to the pitch against the Magpies.
