Kenya's top-ranked woman bodybuilder Evelyn Okinyi is set to make a strong impression at the Africa bodybuilding Championships in Angola, scheduled to take place on August 16-17, 2019.

According to Kenya Body Building Federation Chairman Chris Omedo, Okinyi will be among the top-ranked muscle women at the championships, having undergone intensive training in Nairobi ahead of the event.

Okinyi, the reigning Arnold Classic South Africa overall Wellness 2019 champion, will compete in a range of categories, including men's bodybuilding, classic physique, and bikini fitness.

Meanwhile, Omedo expressed support for the government's plans to criminalise doping, stating that there should be fairness in all competitions and that bodybuilders must train hard and win clean, without the use of performance-enhancing banned substances.

He added that the federation will continue to work with the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) to smoke out drug cheats and ensure that athletes undergo mandatory doping tests.
