On August 5, 2019, FIBA announced that American basketball player DJ Cooper would be suspended for two years after a failed drug test revealed he was using someone else's urine.

According to reports, Cooper's urine sample showed high levels of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone produced by women during pregnancy, when he was taking a test to potentially join the Bosnian national team in 2018.

It is alleged that Cooper attempted to pass off his pregnant girlfriend's urine as his own, but the ploy backfired. The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) immediately suspended Cooper for two years, with his suspension set to be lifted on June 20, 2020.

Cooper's basketball career has been marked by brief stints in the NBA and European leagues. He played for the Washington Wizards' summer team in 2016 and spent four years at Ohio University before moving to Europe to play for teams in Greece and Monte Carlo.
