Ken Okoth's family has put an end to plans for traditional Luo rituals following a family meeting.
Earlier, Okoth's mother Angeline Ajwang was set to lead a traditional ritual at their home in Ogenga village, Kabondo Kasipul constituency, where she would bury a banana stem to symbolize the burial of her son.
However, after a visit from National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi and Kabondo Kasipul MP Eve Obara, the family has decided to hold a prayer service instead.
The prayer service will be held at a date to be announced, and will be conducted after Okoth's mother Angelina Ajwang has fully recovered from her illness.
According to Citizen TV, the family had been divided over the mode of sendoff for the late legislator, with some wanting him to be buried and others supporting cremation.
Following the family meeting, the differences have been resolved, and the family will now proceed with the prayer service.
