The East Africa Got Talent show on Citizen TV on Sunday 4th August 2019 was an unforgettable experience.
One of the standout performances came from 7-year-old Leyna K from Uganda, who sang 'One day at a time' by Daniel O'Donnell in an immaculate white bridal dress. Her high and low vocals left the judges, including Judge Makeda, in awe, with Judge Makeda confessing 'it has given me goose bumps...'
Leyna K's performance was so impressive that it earned her a standing ovation from the judges, and her mother rushed onto the stage to hug her. When asked what she would do with the Ksh 5,000,000 prize money, Leyna K said she wants to buy her brother a watch.
Other notable performances included professional mourning by 25-year-old Dan from Migori County, and acrobatic stunts by the Safi Theatre Group from Dar es Salaam. The show also featured a Rwandan group named Uruyange, who showcased the strength of girls through their music and drumming.
Host Anne Kansiime kept the audience entertained with her endless goofs and comic antics, while Judge Vanessa's comments in flawless Swahili added to the show's cultural diversity.
