Kenyan smartphone buyers have reason to smile as HMD Global, the manufacturer of Nokia phones, has announced a price reduction for the Nokia 1 Plus.
First launched in Kenya in Q2 of 2019, the Nokia 1 Plus will now be available at a retail price of Ksh8,300, down from Ksh9,500.
According to Gopher Ogembo, HMD Global Senior Business Manager, East Africa, the price cut is aimed at making the Nokia 1 Plus more accessible to entry-level smartphone buyers.
‘We are happy to announce today that more Nokia smartphone fans looking to upgrade their entry level phones that they can get the Nokia 1 Plus at a reduced price,’ Ogembo said.
At its previous price point, the Nokia 1 Plus was already the cheapest HMD Global phone on the Kenyan market, but the new price reduction has made it even more attractive to buyers.
Reviewers have welcomed the price cut, saying the Nokia 1 Plus is now worth considering for buyers looking for a budget-friendly smartphone.
‘Nokia 1 Plus combines a big display, solid imaging, and aspirational design with a unique nano-pattern finish laced with the latest Android 9 Pie (Go Edition),’ Ogembo added.
