Reuben Savaii, a former presidential candidate with six degrees, has left a trail of despair in his wake. Despite his impressive academic credentials, he struggled to secure employment and lived in abject poverty in Vihiga county.

On August 4, 2019, Savaii's son Daniel Lihanda confirmed his passing at the age of 70. The cause of death is believed to be a stroke, which he suffered while living in his shanty.

Savaii's life story is a testament to his determination to make a difference in Kenyan politics. In 1997 and 2002, he attempted to vie for the presidency, but his efforts were thwarted by the electoral body at the time.

Despite being barred from contesting, Savaii remained undeterred. He boasted of a Diploma in Theology, a Law degree, and two Bachelor of Education degrees, one in Arts and another in Science. However, his impressive curriculum vitae did not translate to formal employment.

As reported by Tuko.co.ke on August 5, 2019, Savaii's passing was a shock to many who knew him. His son's confirmation of his death marked the end of a life that was marked by struggle and determination.
