Published on August 5, 2019, the National Sevens Circuit resumes this weekend in Kisumu with the Dala Sevens tournament.
KCB RFC head coach Dennis Mwanja is confident that the return of the national rugby 15s team players will help his charges reclaim the Dala Sevens trophy.
The team is second on the log with 37 points, two points adrift of Mwamba RFC, after winning the first leg in Kakamega and finishing fourth in Meru.
“The squad that won Kakamega Sevens is back in place, and we’re confident of reclaiming the trophy we lost to Mwamba a fortnight ago in Meru,” Mwanja said.
Key players Jacob Ojee and Andrew Amonde have rejoined the team, along with Vincent Onyala and Levy Amunga, who missed the Kabeberi Sevens due to personal commitments.
However, flanker Isaac Njoroge will miss the tournament due to an injury sustained in Zambia.
KCB will face Menengai Cream Homeboyz, Blak Blad, and Vihiga Granites in Pool D.
“We’re confident of collecting all the points in the group stages. We respect Homeboyz, but we’ve already beaten them twice this season, so I believe my boys will go all the way and win Dala Sevens,” Mwanja enthused.
