On Monday, August 5, 2019, Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso passed away at Nairobi Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Close friends, mostly women in politics, have shared emotional stories of her last moments, revealing that she summoned President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto to her hospital bed to bid them farewell.
Chief Administrative Secretary Rachel Shebesh, a close friend of Laboso, told mourners at Bomet Green Stadium that the President and Deputy President promptly responded to her request.
"We were privileged to spend the last one month with her. I spent all the nights at the Nairobi Hospital. There is a night she asked for the president and the deputy president who responded promptly and said her goodbyes. To family also. Joyce was a great sister and the glue that kept us together," said Ms Shebesh.
Laboso was also concerned about the reported divisions in Jubilee Party, with her friends revealing that she had asked to be briefed about the issue even during her stay in a London hospital.
