A Nakuru court has directed Benson Muchiri, a businessman accused of murdering his watchman Onesmus Manyara, to take his plea on Wednesday.
On Monday, Muchiri appeared before Deputy Registrar Margaret Kyalo, but the plea was deferred due to the trial judge's absence on vacation until August 5.
According to the charge sheet, Muchiri is alleged to have assaulted Manyara, who was 27 years old, on July 11 at a timber yard in the Casino area of Molo Sub-County, Nakuru.
The police claim that the deceased was assaulted over a stolen car battery, which belonged to one of the vehicles parked at the timber yard.
Since his first appearance in court on July 23, 2019, Muchiri has been in remand at Nakuru GK Prisons.
