Sebastien Migne, the Harambee Stars head coach, has dismissed calls for his resignation following the team's defeat in the January 2020 CHAN tournament.
The team fell 4-1 to Tanzania in post-match penalties after a 0-0 draw in normal time at the Moi International Stadium in Kasarani.
Despite taking Kenya to the Africa Cup of Nations finals for the first time in 15 years, Migne's defensive approach has been criticized, with the team bowing out of the Afcon at the preliminaries after losing to Algeria and Senegal.
However, Migne pointed out that the unavailability of four key players due to transfers contributed to the squad's lack of quality.
“The last thing I will do is to resign. I am under contract, but I think it will be difficult to pay me if they need to pay it. I am a hard worker even in difficult times, and I knew it would not be easy when I signed to honour Kenya,” Migne said during a post-match interview.
Migne also acknowledged that the team missed maturity in the game, which is essential in football, and that player transfers had ruined his plans.
