Angeline Ajwang, the mother of the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth, arrived at her home in Ogenga village, Homa Bay County, on Sunday, following the cremation of her son's body in Nairobi on Saturday morning.

According to the Luo Council of Elders, Okoth's wife, Monica, is expected to travel to Homa Bay for a mock burial and a cleansing ritual, in which she will be inherited by one of Okoth's brothers, in line with community traditions.

Chairman of the Luo Council of Elders, Nyandiko Ogandi, stated that if none of the brothers is interested in inheriting the wife, any relative of the MP can fulfill the cultural right.

Evans Olouch, Okoth's nephew, denied claims that Ken had wished to be cremated, saying that if it were so, the mother would have known.

Olouch also alleged that the family did not meet on Friday night to decide on the cremation, and that Okoth's mother and other relatives were left out of the decision-making process.

Reports indicate that the body of Okoth left the Lee Funeral Home at about 1am for the crematorium at Kariokor.
