Tanzania Qualifies for CHAN 2020

On August 4, 2019, Tanzania's Taifa Stars secured a spot in the second round of the CHAN 2020 tournament after defeating Kenya's Harambee Stars 4-1 in a penalty shootout at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya.

The match ended in a 0-0 draw after the regular 90 minutes, forcing the teams to proceed to a penalty shootout. Tanzania's Nyoni, Nyanganya, and Gadiel successfully converted their penalties, while Kenya's Joash Onyango and Kibwage missed theirs.

With this win, Tanzania will face Sudan in the final round of the qualifying tournament.

Kenya, who were the hosts of the match, had a disappointing start to the game, failing to capitalize on their home advantage. The Harambee Stars' coach, Sebastien Migne, will be under pressure to deliver better results in the upcoming matches.
