Published on August 5, 2019, Twitter introduced its progressive web app, available in three formats: Twitter Lite on Android, Twitter for the Web, and Twitter for Windows App on Microsoft Store.
As the official UI on the desktop, the app has become a popular choice among Twitter users. If you use Twitter on your browser or laptop, you may have seen a notification encouraging you to try the new Twitter.
While some users prefer the new UI, others are not fans. However, the benefits of a progressive web app are undeniable. Updates can be rolled out easily across different platforms, making it a convenient option for users.
One of the notable features of the Twitter Lights Out Mode is the ability to choose between three display options: DEFAULT (white), DIM (dark blue), and LIGHTS OUT (true black). This feature is particularly beneficial for users with OLED displays, as it not only looks great but also saves battery life and is easy on the eyes in dim or dark places.
Twitter has already made the Lights Out Mode available on iOS devices, and the Android official app is expected to receive the update in September.
