Healing a Marriage After Infidelity

Published on August 5, 2019

A woman writes to Philip Kitoto, sharing her struggles to forgive her husband after he confessed to cheating on her. She has been married for nine years and is unsure of how to move forward and save their marriage.

She describes the pain and anger she feels, and how it has affected their relationship. She also mentions that her husband has shown her the woman he cheated on her with, who is a colleague of his, and that this has caused her a lot of distress.

Philip Kitoto offers words of advice, encouraging the woman to acknowledge her hurt and take steps towards healing. He suggests that she set boundaries and commit to living differently to avoid another cycle of hurt and pain. He also emphasizes the importance of forgiveness and accountability in the healing process.

Kitoto also provides four steps to take if one's spouse cheats on them: getting an HIV and STI test, talking to a friend or counsellor, being introspective and asking hard questions, and considering couples counselling.

He reminds the woman that forgiveness is a choice and that it may take time and effort to work through her feelings. However, he also offers hope that their marriage can be saved if both partners are willing to work towards healing and rebuilding their relationship.
