On August 5, 2019, Ernst & Young LLP (EY) announced the appointment of Nancy Muhoya as the firm's first female regional chief executive in Africa.
Muhoya, who is also the new EY Kenya managing partner and East Africa region leader, succeeds Gitahi Gachahi, who will retire next year.
With over 16 years of experience at EY, Muhoya has held various positions, including Certified Public Accountant of Kenya, and has been credited with registering great performance and growth of the company's audit business.
Outgoing boss Gitahi Gachahi praised Muhoya's leadership, saying, 'She goes down in record as the first female cluster leader to be appointed in EY Africa.'
Gachahi, who was named among Kenya's billionaire taxpayers in 2017, will leave EY after a 30-year stint at the firm.
