On Sunday morning, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko caused a stir at a Nakuru hotel, leaving staff and management in shock. The governor, who had spent the night at the four-star hotel, insisted that the hotel chef and manager taste the food served to him before he could eat.
According to eyewitnesses, the hotel chef and manager were forced to take two mouthfuls of the food in front of Sonko to confirm its safety. This bizarre behavior has raised questions about the governor's priorities and whether his actions are putting his life at risk.
Earlier that day, Sonko arrived at the hotel with a huge motorcade, which included a Mercedes Benz chase car with police lights mounted on top, as well as four fuel guzzlers and four off-road pickups with public address systems. The convoy was reminiscent of a president's motorcade, and the presence of a mini-fire engine belonging to the Nairobi County Government added to the spectacle.
It was from the hotel that Sonko launched a scathing attack on Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura and Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo on his Facebook account, further fueling the controversy surrounding his behavior.
