On her 38th birthday, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is reflecting on her past struggles, particularly in her 20s. In a candid interview, she described her younger years as 'brutal', marked by self-doubt and a constant battle to fit in.
Writing on her now-defunct blog The Tig, Meghan revealed that her 20s were a time of intense self-criticism, with her judging her weight, style, and desire to be like everyone else. She also spoke about the challenges she faced in her teens, grappling with how to fit in and what that meant.
According to Meghan, her high school was divided into cliques, with the black girls and white girls, the Filipino and Latina girls, each having their own groups. As a biracial individual, Meghan felt she fell somewhere in between.
Despite her struggles, Meghan has gone on to achieve great things, including giving birth to a healthy baby boy, guest-editing British Vogue, and working behind the scenes with multiple charities and organizations.
As she celebrates her birthday, Meghan and her family are reportedly taking a trip to Scotland to join the Queen and Prince Philip on their annual summer break in Balmoral. However, this trip has not been confirmed by officials.
Meanwhile, a royal author has claimed that the Queen has 'earmarked' Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, to be Meghan's royal mentor to help her fit in. The pair were seen getting along well at the Royal Ascot last year.
