DP Ruto Calls for Unity in Jubilee Party ¶
Deputy President William Ruto has called on Jubilee party leaders to dismantle any political factions they had formed within the ruling party to restore unity.
Speaking to residents of Kiharu in Murang'a county on Sunday, August 4, Ruto urged Jubilee leaders to shift focus to development and national unity instead of fighting each other.
He reminded them that Kenya has only one president, Uhuru Kenyatta, and one agenda called development.
Interestingly, Ruto is presumed to be leader of one of the political outfits that has been actively engaging in early 2022 politics.
Addressing the residents, Ruto said, "I want to ask Jubilee leaders to stop forming political factions to fight each other because this is dividing the party. We have one leader and that is President Uhuru Kenyatta and we have one agenda. The only way we can change this country is to focus on working on development projects...All these political talks and factions emerging will not help our country,"
Despite being presumed to be leader of one of the political factions, Ruto denied there were any divisions in the Jubilee party.
He also dismissed reports he was himself engaged in early 2022 politics saying his frequent tours across the country are meant to ensure the national government development projects are on course.
