Published on August 4, 2019, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's comments about Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo have sparked a heated exchange between the two politicians.
At the center of the controversy is the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth, whose cremation on Saturday was marred by Sonko's claims that Okoth had a second wife and a son with her.
Odhiambo, who has been at the forefront of advocating for the rights of children born out of wedlock, fired back at Sonko in a Facebook post, defending her work in protecting such children.
'I, Wakili Millie Odhiambo, pushed for Article 53 of the Constitution that protects Ken Okoth's son. Once the DNA confirms that he is Ken Okoth's son, he will be entitled under the succession law, to inherit from Ken's estate. He is protected. He is covered,' she wrote.
Odhiambo also took a swipe at Sonko for 'unnecessary drama' that led to Okoth's body not being taken to Kabondo Kasipul as had been planned earlier on.
'Your unnecessary drama spiraled a behind the scenes series of events that resulted in Okoth's body not being taken to Kabondo,' Odhiambo scoffed at Sonko.
