Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has dismissed speculation that midfielder Paul Pogba will leave the club this summer, stating that he has 'no doubt' Pogba will stay.
On the eve of the Premier League season, Solskjaer confirmed that Pogba, who missed the final pre-season game against AC Milan, was not risked due to a back strain.
'I wasn't expecting him to travel,' Solskjaer said. 'I spoke to him after training and he didn't feel right. It's not an injury, it's just some pain. I wasn't going to risk anything.'
Reports had suggested that Pogba's absence from the trip to Cardiff was an attempt to force a move to Real Madrid, but Solskjaer denied this, stating that Pogba was simply managing a minor back issue.
Meanwhile, Solskjaer confirmed that the £80m signing of Leicester centre-back Harry Maguire is set to be announced 'very soon.'
Manchester United started their Premier League campaign at home against Chelsea on Sunday, 11 August, and will be looking to build on their pre-season form, which saw them win all six of their matches, albeit with their final game requiring a penalty shootout.
