Manchester United has secured the signing of England international Harry Maguire from Leicester City for a world-record £80 million. The transfer was finalized on Saturday, with Maguire arriving at the club's Carrington training base to complete his medical.
Maguire, who will become the world's most expensive defender, was spotted arriving at the training base in a Range Rover. He is expected to make his Manchester United debut as soon as next week.
Manchester United had been pursuing Maguire throughout the summer, with a £70 million bid initially rejected by Leicester City. The club returned with an improved offer of £80 million, which was accepted.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expressed his desire to complete one or two more transfers before the window closes, stating, "We're still hoping one or two deals can be done. We've been working on cases for a long time and suddenly the deal can be done when it's dragging on."
