Arsenal Eyeing Loan Move for Philippe Coutinho ¶
Barcelona's Brazilian forward Philippe Coutinho could be on his way to Arsenal this summer, with the Gunners considering a loan move for the 27-year-old.
Coutinho joined Barcelona in January 2018 in a five-year deal valued at around £142 million, but has struggled to make an impact, scoring just 21 goals and bagging 11 assists in over 75 appearances for the club.
According to reports, Arsenal are hoping to add depth to their squad for the new season, which kicks off next weekend, and are planning to meet with Barcelona to finalize the deal.
Emirates head of football Raul Sanllehi is allegedly leading the negotiations, despite the club being cash-strapped. However, Sanllehi has managed to secure the services of Nicolas Pepe in a deal valued at around £72 million, which is the club's record signing.
Barcelona and Arsenal will face off in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Sunday, August 4, and it is expected that the two clubs will finalize the deal at that time.
Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool were initially interested in landing Coutinho, but have since backed out with just a few days left in the transfer window.
